In NZ at last

Landed in Auckland after being seen off by "mum" Sonia.  The 4 little chicks arrived to be greeted by  Father goose, Gavin who gave us a trip round South Auckland, visiting Mangere Station - a new single ambulance  station and then onto the Novotel for dinner at 2030 hrs.

Picked up 6/10/10 at 1000 hrs by Gavin and toured the Auckland and Northern Region headquarters and the Mt Wellington Station... not on a mountain.  Visited their departments - Education, IT, sat in on their  Comms calls with Louie who works on the road and also in Comms.
We'd fail the recruitment process.... 3 hours of physical assessment for volunteers.   25 push ups, 35 sit ups, carry an 80kg mannikin on a stretcher chair (the older large orange ones SAAS used to use)  up 2 flights of stairs with only 2 crew!!!  then lift an 80 kg paitent on an old stretcher up into the back of the ambulance and then a full backpack walk (like the old Thomas packs) carrying an MRX ..... and then an interview immediately afterwards!!

Photos will follow when able to access a computer to do so.

On shift tonight from 1800-midnight.
